Founders Day

To celebrate the anniversary of the founding of the Town of Kensington in May of 1894, a coalition of citizens, government, businesses and civic groups come together each year to organize the Founders Day Celebration, held in the beginning of May at various venues throughout the Town. All activities are open to the public and most are free of charge.

Events in past years have included:

  • A May Garden Party, sponsored by the Old Town Kensington Merchants Association;
  • A garden display contest for shops in Old Town Kensington; attendees voted for the best displays and were able to win gift certificates to the shops;
  • A Walking Tour of historic Kensington sponsored by the Kensington Historical Society; and
  • A picnic sponsored by many businesses in the Town.

If you have any questions or comments about our Founders Day Celebration, please contact Louise Hamilton at Kensington Town Hall, 301-949-2424.
